Southeast England in
the late 1950’s is a child’s paradise. But not for Danny, he’s a lonely
boy! Because of his father’s work he finds himself frequently moving home. At
eleven-years-old his parents are relocated yet again; this time to Hampshire and he enrols
at a new school where he meets his first real friend, Mike.
By the time they are fourteen, this blossoms into a loving relationship. Their innocence
leads to people taking advantage of their tender years but the learning experience means
they quickly become streetwise.
During the long summer holiday they meet a famous American film star who takes them to New
York where they unwittingly become the playthings of an Arab Prince who has a cruel and
sadistic appetite for young boys. Later, while cruising across the Atlantic on the Queen
Elizabeth they find themselves in the company of some friendly East Europeans who turn out
to be KGB and even more brutal. On several occasions their exploits put their lives in
considerable jeopardy but the intense love they have for each other overcomes their fear.
Danny’s Story: For the Love of Mike is an epic adventure overloaded with excitement,
danger and courage, interspersed with subtle humour. But overall it’s an enchanting
and passionate love story between two adolescent teenage boys. |

Hi Kenny. Just finished reading your book. A fabulous
story, I couldn't put it down. I particularly liked the way Danny discovered love, it was
there all the time but he just didn't realise it! Every chapter was a new adventure. I
didn't want it to end. Will there be a sequel?

.... I was getting
that funny sensation in my stomach, the same feeling as I had yesterday in the pool and
down by the woods. I wanted to kiss and touch him but he was breathing quietly and I
didn’t want to wake him. I had always admired his body, his cheeky grin and
especially his friendship, but this new feeling excited me more than anything. Could it be
what I thought it was? I must have moved slightly, Mike was waking up. He opened his eyes,
saw me looking at him and smiled. I leaned forward and kissed him, his smooth lips
tenderly pushed back against mine. I pulled away about an inch.
“There’s something I want to ask you but don’t know how to say
it.” I murmured.
“Just ask me, you never know, I might have the answer.”
I paused for a moment trying to think of the right words without embarrassing
myself and then I just blurted it out.
“Have you ever been in love?”
His reply was instant.
“I think I’ve loved you from the first day you spoke to me in the
playground.” He whispered seriously while looking into my eyes..... |
For the
Love of Mike is a charming romantic tale of burgeoning love between two lads. In the true
spirit of romance, they battle through adversity and, at times, life-threatening dangers,
to find in each other the strength and inspiration to triumph, and to find their gay love
for each other is stronger than all assailants. The pace rattles on and the insight into
young passions and feelings is sensitively drawn. At the turn of every page I wanted to
know how our heroes extricated themselves from trouble, and also how their blossoming love
grew and flourished. It is a classic tale, well told with a difference, and with a sting
in the tail!

Part 2
of Danny’s Story: For the Love of Mike continues… .... I walked in through the front door where a worried looking Lord Vale
was busying himself with a pile of documents, others were scurrying about, doors were
opening and closing and then an ambulance arrived. It’s a bit late for an ambulance,
poor Max is dead, I thought. The driver opened the back doors and along with his
assistant, took out a stretcher and went inside. I hadn’t seen Mike yet and I
didn’t know who to ask where he was then Lord Vale glanced up from his paper work and
beckoned me to him.
“The doctor’s with Mike now, he’s
lost quite a bit of blood…” |
Hi Kenny,
I just had to write and tell you that I was so taken by your story of Danny and the lovely
way their friendship started and how they went on to become lovers. You could feel the
tenderness toward each other as you turn the pages. Their escapades were extremely
interesting and there was no way I could put the book down and can't wait to read more
about Danny & Mike - hope you have got a sequel to this book as I want to be the first
to buy it. I could go on about the story but I may spoil it for others who will buy
Danny's Story. Looking forward to the next one.

Danny’s Marines
is a new chapter in their lives. .....“Do you know how long it’s been since you put me in
hospital? Can you imagine the pain and suffering you two made me go through? Do you
understand the meaning of the word retaliation?” The redness of his straining face
could clearly be seen under the wiry black beard.
“Are we playing twenty questions?” I said
and Mike giggled out loud. When I came round Mike’s comforting hand was caressing my
painful face; he reckoned my feet lifted six inches off the ground when the Arab hit me.
“Landing on the cushions probably saved you from hurting yourself.” I would have
laughed if I weren’t so sore..... |

strong muscular arms pulled on the oars in a regular rhythm. His body as well as his mind
had matured over the last few weeks; he had gained experience and responsibility, lost his
innocence as a boy and grown into a man. I knew he was reading my thoughts as a smile
crept across his beautiful face; he tilted his head to one side waiting for a kiss. The
small wooden craft beached itself on a gentle wave…. |
